Hope everyone has settled into 2014 with style! It has been a great year at the shop so far, with only one minor flooding incident already in the books. As I cleaned up from the damage and got to some early Spring cleaning, I realized I was ready for some new furniture pieces to spruce up the shop. Somehow, the universe heard my dream, and in the last week it came true in a major major way!
Yesterday I went and picked up this absolutely jaw dropping Art Deco meets Empire Revival Bedroom set made by Van Blerkom Furniture Corp in New York city c. 1940s. This 4 piece set is crafted from birdseye & flamed maple with mahogany secondary wood. It has perfectly bookmatched veneer, perfect Bakelite knobs and Chrome handles.
The set includes 2 nightstands that originally were sides to a vanity, a 4 drawer dresser & a 6 drawer dresser. The set screams 1940s Hollywood, please come see it in person, it will change your life!
Also, in the newly rearranged space, I have a beautiful late 1800s, early 1900s petite sideboard with mirrored back, a really lovely Eastlake parlor table and Eastlake folding rocking chair with dusty blue velvet. One of my other favorite pieces in the shop is a c. 1940s writing desk that a friends grandfather brought back from his travels in Korea at the time. It has black lacquer finish and an embossed leather writing surface with hand painted scenes and gold greek key design. Desk comes with original matching chair.
If you are looking for furniture, please do stop by to visit this month! I’m loaded with some great pieces to fit every budget!
